Language: The native language of the population is Modern Greek. English is spoken as a second language by the majority of Greeks, while French and German are also widely spoken.
Time: Greece is two hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time, seven hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and an hour ahead of Central European Time.
Health: Emergency treatment is free to all visitors in public hospitals.
Currency: The currency of Greece is the Euro (€). All major credit cards are widely accepted in Greece.
Visa information: Greece follows the Schengen Agreement provision and the subsequent EU legislation concerning short term visas, issued for stays up to three (3) months in the Schengen area. Holders of regular passports from the rest of the world need a visa in order to visit Greece (and the Schengen area). CONVIN, the professional conference organizer, will provide an invitation letter to conference participants who need to obtain a visa. Climate: Athens enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate and ample sunshine (estimated to be over 3,000 hours per year). The average temperature in Athens during the month of June ranges from 18° to 31°C (65 to 88° F). It is a mostly sunny and warm month.
